Clayton County school officials proceeded Friday with a private disciplinary hearing for a Jonesboro High School assistant principal -- against the advice of the Georgia Attorney General's office. A tribunal appointed by the school board heard evidence to determine if assistant principal Sandra Nicholson acted inappropriately when she signed off on a provocative performance by the student dance team. Under Georgia law, the hearing should be open to the public. According to Stefan Ritter, Georgia's senior assistant attorney general, "only the deliberative portion of a disciplinary hearing conducted by an agency may be closed to the public."
